Cataract surgery is performed on millions of patients every year. The technique involves removing the eye's clouded natural lens and replacing it with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL) that is permanent. This eye surgery is done on an outpatient basis and usually lasts between 15 and 30 minutes. Patients may experience little to no pain and can usually return to their normal activities in a few days.
The Procedure
Dr. Vendal, a board certified ophthalmologist, performs cataract surgery using the phacoemulsification technique. This technique is the most advanced and most commonly used. It requires micro- incisions on the side of the cornea (smaller than 3 millimeters). Because of the size and location of the incision, stitches are rarely needed, and the eye heals rapidly.

Dr. Vendal utilizes the state-of-the-art intraocular lenses in planning your cataract surgery, and each surgery is planned with the individual patient’s needs in mind
