Dr. Vendal is a Board Certified Eye Physician and Surgeon who is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. She specializes in the treatment of diabetes, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and cataracts as well as providing comprehensive ophthalmic care. Her surgical specialties include glaucoma lasers, glaucoma surgery, cataract surgery, and Prelex refractive surgery.

She grew up in Plano, Texas with her father, an executive at an engineering firm, her mother, a retired professor of sociology, and her sister, Sarah. At UT, she was consistently on the Dean's Honor Roll and served in the premedical honor society, Alpha Epsilon Delta. During the course of her studies at UT Health Science Center, she received several Lions Research scholarships to perform vision research and won various awards for her research presentations on macular degeneration.

As a resident at Penn State University, Dr. Vendal originated a community eye screening at the Bethesda Homeless Mission which now occurs on an annual basis in Harrisburg, PA. She also received a travel grant from National Eye Institute to present her ongoing research in Retinopathy of Prematurity at the annual Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology meeting.

In 2004, Dr. Vendal was accepted to Harvard Medical School's prestigious Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary for subspecialty training in glaucoma treatment and again won accolades for her research in low-tension glaucoma at the New England Ophthalmological Society. Throughout her entire professional career, her priority has been her patients, and she strives to make their experience a positive one.
